Intended use

Our products are conceived and designed for the trellis systems used in viticulture and they are to be properly used as such. it is assumed that the posts are used with a soil and under conditions which are typical for wine-growing. Unsuitable sites are marshy grounds, locations with continuous wetness, places lying directly under power lines, lands in proximity of the sea with a high saltwater concentration or close to an industrial site with high emissions values. Coming into contact with aggressive substances reduces the life span of the zinc coating.

If the structure is subjected to extreme loading conditions, such as it is the case with the free-cordon vine training technique or when the vineyard rows are not straight, then it is necessary to use as row posts the profile types P5L or P5E depending on the kind of application.

If components of stainless steel are used for the trellises, contact corrosion of the galvanized products may occur, particulary when a stainless steel component has an earth connection. Due to a heavy load, stainless steel wires cut deeper into the steel. The use of stainless steel for the highest wire is only partly recommendable.

Independently from the type of post chosen, the post spacing should be less than 5 metres for otherwise the trellis system will swing too strongly in the wind, undergoing extreme stress. In extremely windy regions, the post spacing should be smaller.

The depth values indicated in the depth table are only indicatory. Steel posts must be set a bit deeper than wooden posts.

Please, pay attention to the following instructions for the storage and setting of the posts.

The proper handling

Please, observe our instructions as to the storage and setting of galvanized posts. Altough it may seem laborious, the longer life of the posts is worth the effort. These rules also apply to other galvanized materials.
